Guided by the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”, the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women’s Empowerment (MCWE) took place in Bali, Indonesia from 24 – 26 August 2022. Wendy Teleki, Head of the We-Fi Secretariat spoke at the event. Wendy reiterated that women entrepreneurs are playing a central role in the global recovery, as they are needed to tackle urgent issues such as building resilience in fragile and conflict-affected areas, creating climate-friendly agriculture, delivering solutions during the pandemic, and improving the care economy.

The MCWE offered an opportunity for G20 stakeholders to expand discussions and share best practices and lessons learned on how to better support women’s empowerment. The event focused on three main topics:

  • Care Economy Post Covid-19: The Missing Opportunity in the Labour Market;
  • Closing Digital Gender Gap: Women’s Participation in the Digital Economy and Future Work; and
  • Women’s Entrepreneurship: Accelerating Equality, Accelerating Recovery.
