Cecilia is a transient accommodation business owner in Papua New Guinea. Before the pandemic, Cecilia rented apartment units to expats to pay for her children’s education. As her tenants left at the onset of the pandemic, Cecilia was forced to adapt her business model. Cecilia received training from ADB’s the Women Accelerating Vibrant Enterprises in Southeast Asia and the Pacific (WAVES) program, financed by WeFi. The Covid-adapted trainings focused on financial management, technology and digital tools, and e-commerce. Cecilia learned how to advertise online and increase the visibility of her business. As a result, she was able to notably increase her occupation rates and revive her business.
