We-Fi teams up with Thomson Reuters Foundation to tell stories of women entrepreneurs
All around the globe, women-led businesses are playing a critical role in the COVID-19 crisis, providing essential services and products that communities rely on for pandemic response, economic recovery, and growth. Yet the stories of women entrepreneurs are often underrepresented in global media – their resilience, business acumen, and contribution to the local economy rarely become headlines.
This is why the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) is partnering with Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF), the corporate foundation of Thomson Reuters, on a project that seeks to identify and amplify stories of inspiring women entrepreneurs. By combining the global reach of We-Fi’s implementing partners and TRF’s media network and journalistic expertise, we hope to bring the much-deserved highlight to women-led SMEs in emerging markets.
During the next few months, We-Fi will work closely with its implementing partners and TRF on interviewing female entrepreneurs and documenting the challenges and opportunities they faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stay tuned for updates – and we are looking forward to introducing the full series in the coming months.
